Ever had a song suddenly pop into your head and play over and over again?

That’s called an earworm! Don’t worry, it’s not a real worm.

So.. why do these songs get stuck in our heads?

Scientists aren’t sure why but they suspect the brain is attempting to fill a gap in the auditory cortex. Like when you are bored or spaced out.

Then how do we remove the earworm? There are several ways.

One, Try listening to the whole song to signal your brain it’s complete.

Two, Listen to different kinds of music with varied tempos and beats to forget the song.
